In a purified place, sitting still and steady on a soft piece of cloth or a mattress, neither too high nor too low, concentrating one’s mind by disabling senses and controlling wandering mind is meditation. While meditating, the posture should be straight with neck and head aligned. Remain calm. One should be staring at the tip of nose. Meditation improves efficiency of brain and mind. Deep meditation improves observational and analytical ability of the brain, and therefore it is very beneficial in getting clarity of logics, and reasoning. One may fathom complex things at a glance, like direct realization. One focusses energies on action that are doable and matters, and saves energies from the rest. With reduced mental stress, intelligence improves further. Having satisfied with the best of contribution possible, the Peace is felt deeply inside. Recent medical sciences have discovered that Pranayama and restrained breathing also improves immunity as low oxygen results in low exchange of CO2 from the body, which in turn has beneficial effects.{ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3791324/} It’s not the high oxygen, but low oxygen, that makes Pranayama healthy{https://medium.com/forbidden-realms/is-holding-your-breath-good-for-you-392795759b7c}. Several other techniques of Pranayama are designed for specific benefits.
Establishing at a purified place, sitting still and steady, neither too high nor too low, sitting on soft clothes or on a layer of Kushasan.
Thus, herein sitting silently, concentrating one’s mind by disabling senses and mind, sitting thus, try and practise such Yog to purify oneself.
Sitting with backbone, neck and head aligned straight, unmoved, quiet and calm, staring at the tip of nose, not looking around in other directions.
‘Focusing on the tip of nose or in the middle of eyebrows’ is one of the methods for meditation for the Yogi who wishes to develop ‘Siddhi’. Ideally, Yog is performed through eight-fold paths to balance out and complement the physical and spiritual development simultaneously. ‘Siddhi’ is an advanced stage of Yog, when transcendental vision or similar capabilities are acquired. At this stage, one is able to understand complicated science and knowledge very quickly, which is not possible for normal human beings. It is difficult to say if it is a real metaphysical vision (like entanglement of remotely located particles in quantum physics) or a speedy logical understanding that resembles ‘all scient’ characteristics.
Serene within, fearless, vowed in Brahmacharya (or in act accordance to laws of Brahma), thus, maintaining abstinence and self-control and firming one’s mind on me they achieve me, the beyond.
Neither the one who eats a lot nor the one who eats not or eats in solitude, can practice Yog. Neither the one who sleeps and dreams a lot nor the one who is over-awake (lacks sleep and tires mind and body) can be Yogi.
The one who eats, walks and relaxes properly, exerts normally in all duties and maintains regular sleeps without dreams, such Yogis successfully dispel all worldly suffering.
Physical relaxation, proper food and sound sleep are prerequisites to Yog, stressing one’s body with over or under eating or incomplete sleep isn’t conducive to Yog. For details, refer to Ashtang yog procedures.
One should be focused deeply into realizing universal consciousness and stay free from distractions, like a lamp in a windless place and stay un-flickering to achieve the beyond.
When consciousness rises in state, quietened and unmoved by practicing Yog, one introspect within and begin to realize Him (Purusha, the supreme consciousness), thus, enjoys the bliss.
In Yog (in union with Brahm), the purified soul, having conquered their senses and having realized everyone’s souls as integral with Him, one would engage in dutiful action and attaches to nothing. (to materialism or with personal favours, ownership or ego of any kind).
Meditation to connect the Spiritual world or deep states of universal consciousness is said to be possible, and this enables a Transcendental vision. This looks to be the answer for how, otherwise, Ancient Rishis could fathom intricate truths and cosmological sciences to such accuracy, proven by sciences today. However, the process seems to have lost, as in current world no proven case of transcendental experiences have been noted, yet individual experiences have been recorded that are unexplainable. Sixth sense alarms, empathy connects people, souls of recently died person communicate in their ways, irrespective of physical distances. Born Prodigies skills and knowledge, past life recollections and such observations are real experiences by many people. It is possible if physical events create deep impressions, and stays deep in the sub-sub-conscious states that lives after the physical death. If that is true, then as we wake up from the sleep, and realize subconscious biases in us, just the same way it is possible to connect to sub-sub-Conscious states through mediation and get transcendental experiences. Believing on Universal continuum of the Consciousness of the people, it is also possible to envision any experiences by any souls, or any truths at any distance. Meditation may logically provide Transcendental vision, yet, even if it is not easy, meditation definitely helps improves brain functions, analytical relationships and discovery of truths and sciences.
