Universe is Brahm with its physical and metaphysical ensembles, i.e. Prakriti & Purusha. Purusha is the world of metaphysics, which appears to be divided as souls. Yet it is an integral continuum called Parampurush. Prakriti is the physical part of nature and the three psychosomatic factors (triguna) that provide souls the specific persona. “Para’ (the Beyond) is the creator of Prakriti and Purush and also known as Parabrahm (i.e. beyond Brahm). Para is the creator of Laws of Prakriti and Purusha, but itself not affected by these laws. The three are depicted in the symbol of AUM: Prakriti is shown as three free flowing curves, which physically connote to 3-dimensional physical entity and metaphysically indicate to Triguna nature of Satwa, rajas and tamas. Purusha is aloof to the physical nature and is shown as dissociated curve or crescent moon. The dot on top of Moon represents Parabrahm.
The crescent moon & star are also considered a religious symbol in Islam, which proscribes formed Gods, yet maintains the philosophy of spirituality. The moon and star in Islam must be representing spiritual world and its creator Allah, respectively. It is the same as defined for AUM. Islamic symbol omitted three free flowing curves of AUM as they proscribe the utility of physical life.
Scriptures say Vyatka (the manifest) was born of Avykta (the unmanifest). Both science and scriptures say that the creations proliferated from a massless, timeless, point source smaller than the smallest atom and spread far and beyond infinitely. We gave epistemological names to it as Shiva and Shivaling (representing Big Bang), as explained in Linga Puran about the creation of universe.
Manifestations appear from the un-manifest everywhere as the day breaks. At night’s annihilation of the manifested initiates, which dissolves back into the un-manifest again, is said.
There is clear indication that everything is born out of unmanifest and will dissolve back into the unmanifest.
Commentary: Until Einstein proved that space and time are related, no one could even think about it. In fact in his life time Einstein struggled to convince scientists. Space, gravity, mass and time are all related to each other. At time t=0, there was no space, no mass and no gravity. This was the point of Big bang. Although science does not say much for the first fraction of the seconds of creation, it explains what happened post Big bang only. Although there seems to be an alignment in science and scriptures, that manifestations appeared from unmanifest.
A simple logic can be like this: Science says that space and time are free and straight but as soon as a mass, typically a heavy celestial body, is found space curves around it due to gravity. If the mass is very dense, then gravitational warping increases. As the mass tends to infinity, gravitational warping should close into the mass itself dissolving all the space into the mass. At infinity mass, the object is dimensionless, i.e. ZERO space, which in turn means zero volume and therefore zero mass. Here the Physics and maths starts to fail. However, this pint size object has to be technically space less, and thus the logic of unmanifest is proven. Note that the world Avyakt simply means that cannot be manifested, irrespective of the fact whether it has zero mass or infinite mass, it has zero dimension and cannot be physically present. Scriptures make sense and modern sciences are in line with them. The quantum mechanics and string theories also confirms this point in different ways. As quarks the building blocks of protons and neutrons, get their masses from unmanifest bosons, which do not consume space, but carry force or fields of energies, converted to mass. Whereas string theory states them as tiny strings of energies converted to mass. Note that at quantum levels particle masses are expressed in GeV, which is the unit of energy not mass.
The point is how Rishis could even imagine such notions about creations thousands of years ago. They did think about the creation exactly in line with modern sciences, big bang, warping spaces symbolized as curves of AUM. Shape of Shivalinga is also stated as the process of creation in Linga Puran matches to the Big bang model. There must be another way to discover truth, which is rather much faster and easier compared to complex theoretical physics. Shloke 5.4-5.5 states that ‘Sankhya or logic-led conclusions lead to same as meditational conclusions.
The most ancient, constant, smaller than the smallest atom one can imagine, constantly thinkable and researchable, beholder and caretaker of all through his inconceivably formless, effulgent and colorful like Adityans (hordes of Suns, like galaxies) beyond the darkness that is far reaching, spreading transcendentally and infinitely….
Clear indication is given about the genesis of Universe or creation of Brahm by Parabrahma that it is the most ancient, smaller than the smallest, yet far reaching and spreading through the darkness, inconceivable and beholder of colourful and bright Suns and Galaxies. This along with other shloke reveals the theory of creation similar to Big Bang.
Hey Parthia, I’m the seeds of all creations, what is said to be eternal, I’m the intellect of intellectuals and I’m the Aura of Divine beings.
Apart from these conceivable and other entities in Prakriti, there is another entity of mine, the beyond. All the life forms, O mighty armed, herein are sheltered inside this.
Para or Parbrahma is the creator of Brahm, which in turn comprises Parkriti and Purusha. Note that the specific mention of intellect and radiance of people is due to their metaphysical eminence and the Lord of all creation is the creator of these qualities too. Kapil Muni in Sankhya Karika says that the intellect was thrown in during primordial creations along with Prakriti and Purusha.
The Bhagwan says, nature dissolves inside me and then I recreate it again and again. All physical existences are holistically situated in me and dissolve in me (the Kritsnam), ruled by the law of nature.
Note that the language of I is due to Kritsna’s is representing Brahm himself and also gave divine eyes to Arjun to realize Brahm directly.
Under my direction, laws of nature create the movable and the unmovable objects constantly. O Kauntaiya (Arjun) for many reasons, the world of life and lifeless mutate its forms perennially (keeps changing).
Of all the forms and species produced, O Kuntison, that is ever created or formed in physical format, of them, the great physical entity of Brahma the cosmos, I am the seed giver father thereof.
It is reiterated that the seed of the physical cosmos is by the supreme entity called Para, the God. This is strikingly similar to the scientific theory of Big bang given by scientists, where in everything physical and metaphysical emerged from a non-entity, formless, massless, timeless point source without any attribute. Sciences and scriptures align together.
Imperishable is Brahma, (the sum total of Cosmic Physics + Metaphysics).
Knowledge of Brahm’s Param Qualities or Laws is Spirituality.
The Ultimate Omni-creator, yet aloof from them, Para is his supreme nature.
The creator of all the physical existences, sciences and metaphysical existences such expressions are said to be his actions.
Perishable physical elements in beings and forms, the indweller pneuma in them, the controller and owner of their deeds is due to me (as their souls are my parts), O’ best among the embodied (Arjun)!
From the womb of which (the Para), all these creations are born, proliferated and sustained. I am the cause of entire universe, its creation and apocalyptic destroyer thereof.
‘I’ (The cosmic Brahma, enacted by Bhagwan Kritsna during discourse) am spread all over; from me evolves everything and exists thereafter; understanding this, the wise and erudite worship me dedicating all their deeds unto me.
Know thou that Prakriti and Purusha, both are eternal and without a beginning; Know that various attitudinal defects and qualities are due to Prakriti, the triguna of Nature.
Purusha and Prakriti are without a beginning and without an end. They are integral part of Brahm. Consciousness is due to Purusha but influenced and deluded by Prakriti. Once awaken to Prakriti, Purusha seizes to be influenced by Prakriti, says Kapil Muni.
Summary:
Bhagwan Kritsna explains the science of cosmic existences personifying Brahma himself.
Brahm = Prakriti + Purusha = Entire cosmos originated by Para or Parbrahma. Brahm is imperishable and eternal (physical entities are perishable within physical domain, they morph into other forms, but the primordial origin of physical constituents is imperishable metaphysics and hence imperishable in holistic sense). Para is beyond both of them; is their creator and not affected by triguna nature.
Prakriti = Physical matters + its Laws, physics, chemistry, biology etc. + Psychosomatic factors that effects Souls (i.e. Triguna elements: Satwa, Rajas and Tamas).
Purusha = the metaphysical, continuum of consciousness, yet to be discovered by sciences, but realized by most in different degrees and ways. Souls are integral part of it but require realization.
Purusharth: Significance of Souls lies in deeds that last longer than life that is called Purushartha.
People who understand Purusha believe in egalitarianism and utilitarianism without an Ego and attachments to bodies.
Erudite, who know the law of Brahm and conceptual knowledge of Vedas, have true understanding of Sanatan Dharma. Erudite indifferent to materialism at all are known as ‘Sthit-Pragya’.
Soul’s consciousness has three aspects: Biological Chetna, spiritual intellect and associated memories.
Biological Chetna is the biological consciousness in beings during life.
Intellect is the outcome of spiritual consciousness and it helps understand nature logically.
Memory: Biological memory is described by sciences mostly in brains but there is another metaphysical format of memory. This is recorded deep in sub-subconscious stratum of souls that is beyond physical realm and it traverses with the souls to the next life.
